Super Saver and the Rise of Sticker Shock, Ep. 3

Episode 3: The Convention Cash Con The hum of the convention swelled into focus—rows of neon banners, glass cases gleaming with collectibles, and hand-lettered signs promising CASH DISCOUNT! in bold, irresistible ink. Super Saver’s pockets tingled with possibility. Somewhere in the maze, Sticker Shock lurked, feeding on rushed choices and hidden costs. A vendor waved from behind a table of limited-run figures. “Ten percent off if you pay cash,” he called, tapping a small sign taped to the display. Around his booth, other sellers echoed the same refrain. Cash meant savings. Cash meant victory. Cash meant— A glowing kiosk pulsed at the edge of the aisle. ATM — FAST CASH — $3.95 FEE The screen flickered. A familiar grin formed in the pixels, stretching wider than the fee itself. Sticker Shock’s face shimmered across the interface, eyes bright with baited generosity. “Go on,” the voice purred from the speaker. “It’s only a few dollars. Think of all you’ll save with cash discounts.” ...

Super Saver and the Rise of Sticker Shock, Ep. 2

Episode 2: The Road to "Almost There" The platform lights steadied, but the air still felt thin, like the world hadn’t quite decided to be normal again. Super Saver checked the phone. The convention ticket was there. Locked. Real. That part of the cost was done. Below it, the travel app had opened on its own. For a fleeting moment, an icon flashed on the screen: a grinning sticker labeled Sticker Shock , the villain of hidden costs. Then the estimate loosened. A service fee slipped in beside it. A timing adjustment nudged the number higher. A station surcharge found a place to stand. None of the numbers moved fast. They settled in , as if they had always been there. The commuter train’s arrival tone chimed down the platform. People shifted forward. The day continued, ordinary as...

Episode 1: The Checkout Trap! The ticket page blinked once. Super Saver leaned closer to the screen. The comic convention banner scrolled past in bright colors—exclusive panels, limited merch, the kind of thing that sold out if you sneezed at the wrong time. The price sat there, calm and confident.  $45.00 Super Saver clicked Continue . The number rearranged itself. $45.00 became $57.18. Super Saver frowned. “That’s… new.” The checkout page flickered. A shadow peeled itself off the screen and stepped into the room, made of glowing numbers and receipt paper. The figure adjusted a hat with a digital display that blinked FINAL TOTAL . “I wouldn’t call it new,” the figure said pleasantly. “You’re just seeing more of it now.” A large digital price tag hung from his neck, the numbers ticking upward in soft red light. “Who are you?” Super Saver asked. The figure smiled the way loading bars do when they’re almost finished. “Someone who helps things reach their total.” The checkout b...
